You are a collaborator. When you are a leader, yes, you are in charge, but flash back it’s the platoon you’ve erected that will move systems forward. When you unite with your platoon, you all succeed. Do not use your power to mandate; you will thrive stylish when you unite. Asking for input can be veritably useful in numerous ways.
Look for dysfunction and annihilate it. When there’s dysfunction in the plant or on your platoon, everyone suffers not just the parties involved. Team morale goes down when one or two people on the platoon are fractious. When you see or hear about dysfunction on the platoon, speak with the individualities intimately also concertedly. Keep Literacy. Simply because you have achieved the title of” leader” does not mean you need to stop learning. In fact, a leader should continue to learn through his or her career. Stay on top of trends. Know what is new and intriguing and what is on the way out in your assiduity.
Share with your platoon what your values are. Yes, you’ll be incubating the operations and fancies of the company itself, but every leader has his or her own values system. Let your platoon know what yours are; do not leave them guessing. If you value honesty or punctuality or humor- let everyone know.
Establish an open- door policy. You’ll need to establish boundaries of course or you will not ever get your work done, but let your platoon know you’re available to them when they need your backing. Set office hours, but do not be so rigid that a platoon member does not feel comfortable coming to you outside of those hours. Connect with and work with your platoon.
Let your character shine through. It isn’t enough to partake your values and persuasions your platoon needs to see you livingthem.However, you are not living your conviction and your character is showing, and not in a good way, If punctuality is important to you- or so you said if you show up late for meetings.
Hold yourself as responsible as you hold your platoon. You’re the cement that ties the entire platoon and its systems together. Do not let your part of the design fall through- if your platoon is responsible, you’re responsible to them and the work as well.
Train your” successor.” You may not be planning on going anywhere, but if you see a member of your platoon who would thrive in a leadership part or in another department, work with him or her to help them realize that dream. Do not be selfish and hold them back because they’re so amazing. A great leader notices gift and nurtures it.
